Butterfly clips were very common in the 90’s! Seriously, has anyone survived? Personally, I had a full butterfly clip and curl situation for winter formals in high school. It was so cute! So imaginative! It’s so much fun! With a variety of styles and options! What’s not to love? Nail clippers were very versatile. You can pull your entire head back or only half of it. This is great if you don’t want to style your hair fancy after you get out of the shower. All you have to do is wrap your hair in nail clips, hold the bonus waves in hand, and blow-dry them. Our friends in the photo above include Jennifer Aniston (Rachel was very fashionable), Erin Brockovich’s Julia Roberts, and One Fine Day’s Michelle Pfeiffer.
This look was so quirky and fun! Flipping the ends of your hair will make it look even cuter. As seen in the photo above featuring Drew Barrymore and Gabrielle from the Olsen twins (um, Ashley? If you want to go a little cuter, pigtails are definitely the way to go. Britney Spears has rocked a few different versions of the pigtail (she pulls her hair up high), but perhaps the one more famous for the pigtail is Baby Spice. Pigtails were her look. Maybe because it makes me think of little girls? It’s a bit ominous, then, that girls with pigtails are also sex symbols.
If you’re more of a rocker girl (or future Ceetus-Lupeedus!), you’ll probably pull your hair up into a killer cosmic bun to show you’re super cool, hip, and alternative. Yes, we rock your girls Zenon space bread and Scary Spice and Gwen Stefani. So you know they are legit.
A cousin of the butterfly clip is using a bobby pin or other cute barrette to pull back a specific section of hair. They sell special bobby pins with fun designs, but I got the idea to just nail the regular black bobby pins and use them instead of paying more money for something special.
