80s Hairstyles Short Women – I don’t know if you noticed, but the 1980s have a huge influence on Pop Culture right now. Stranger Things – the Netflix show set in the 1980s – is probably the biggest TV show in the world. Additionally, American Horror Story’s final season is set in a 1980s summer camp, taking inspiration from those great slasher movies of the decade. As expected, this sudden popularity of the 80s has made its way into beauty trends. This includes a resurgence in the popularity of 1980s-inspired hair – think big volume, shaggy layers and lots of scrunchies.
If you’re thinking of taking a little time travel, take inspiration from some of the best hairstyles from the 80s.
80s Hairstyles Short Women
You can easily give your current hairstyle an 80s style makeover. Check out this blonde bombshell bob – all you need to transform your bob with epic volume is some hold mousse and a teasing comb . Apply the mousse to towel-dried hair, blow-dry and style with your comb. Fabulous!
Sitcom Hairspiration: Living Freshly Different In The 80’s
The mushroom cut was the height of sophistication in the 1980s and with a little update, it’s still incredibly chic. To give a contemporary twist to the classic undercut hairstyle, the hair is given some texture with some layers and styling.
Scrunchies are everywhere by the minute and are the perfect way to add an 1980s vibe to any hairstyle. The messy bun is a classic hairstyle that always looks great, including when wrapped up in a classic 80s scrunchie. I love this look.
Make the classic ’80s ponytail look a little more sleek and contemporary by completely smoothing out any flyaway hair with a toothbrush sprayed with a touch of hairspray. Wrap the base of the ponytail in a section of leftover hair for a really neat finish. Stunning and sure to make a statement.
Top 35 Men’s Hairstyles From The 1980s
The center split was definitely not popular in the 1980s. When it comes to splitting, the more extreme the better! The extreme side parting gave extra visual impact to these gorgeous natural curls. The style has a real effortless feel, don’t you think?
Take inspiration from those great high school movies of the 1980s, like The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, with a classic all-American cheerleader hairstyle. The half-up hairstyle features soft waves, a sleek finish, and a cute headband or bow. Sweet and innocent.
Hair crimping is back in full force, and I’m thrilled about it. It’s a great way to add volume to fine hair and even though it’s a retro styling method, it can look so contemporary and edgy. The flat ends of the bob and bangs are accentuated by all the crimps – simply gorgeous!
Of The Chicest Short Haircuts That Embrace Curls And Waves
There were plenty of great glam rock hairstyles that graced the 80s and many of them still deserve a place in 2019. Check out this amazing faux hawk look, styled by sweeping the curls and pinning them in the center of the head. I love how it ends in a messy fishtail braid, don’t you?
The perm – also known as permanent waves – was a very popular style in the 1980s and has started to gain popularity in recent years. To keep the perm more modern, the curls aren’t as tight, so they have a lot more movement and freedom. This longer layered pixie cut looks absolutely amazing with beautiful bouncy curls.
The heavily layered shag cut works well on fine, fine hair types and has the added benefit of requiring minimal styling to look its best. Let your hair dry naturally with a bit of sea salt spray and your hair’s natural texture will do the rest, giving the many layers great movement.
Sassy And Short Hairstyles For You
I love the natural texture of this lob and it works perfectly with the side half ponytail, complete with a scrunchie. A super fun and youthful look that suits most hair lengths.
Although disco music is on the way out, it has always had a big influence on beauty trends. 80s roller girls were known for wearing neon colors and wearing their long hair in gorgeous waves with brushed layers. This glamorous style still looks so good today!
This has got to be the perfect 80s hairstyle for rock chic. Crimping the lengths gave the hair a nice texture, while the sie braids gave some serious edge. She also likes the lilac dots.
Eight Ultra Chic 80s Hairstyles That Are Making A Huge Comeback In 2021
In the 1980s, it was all about volume. The more volume you can tease, backcomb or curl in your hair, the better. These daring bouncy curls are to die for and will work so well on thicker hair. If you have fine hair and want to add body to your curls, invest in some good hair extensions.
Business ahead and party behind, the mullet is a classic 80s hairstyle given a contemporary update with edgy layers, super short sides and undercut bangs. So awesome and cool.

To create a sleek, windswept look with lots of volume, a quick set with Styling Stix flexible rollers will do the trick.
Start with dry hair, part it to the side and comb it straight. Start at the crown and randomly roll small sections (one to two inches) of hair onto the rollers, rotating backwards. Secure hair in place by simply twisting the ends of the rollers inward – no need to fiddle with bobby pins.
Then secure the sides of the hair, continue rolling the hair backwards. Blow or with air. Remove rollers and light finger hair for added volume; to finish, spray with hairspray.
A fabulous front look starts with a flat cut bob. Apply the styling gel to the roots of the hair, around the hairline. We used Avigal Henna Instant Highlighting Gel for a rich color boost that washes out.
To achieve this brow lift, comb the hair from the crown an inch or two up so that it is at a 90 degree angle to your scalp as pictured above; dry on low heat and gently comb back. then directly
